Beethoven's 'Eroica' Symphony by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Cadogan Hall
51 members of RSTC enjoyed a superlative concert at Cadogan Hall, featuring The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Jamie Phillips, the young British conductor.
Starting the evening off was the little-known Prelude from the opera Irmelin, by Delius. This lyrical piece set the scene beautifully for the rest of the concert.
Following that was a performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 3 featuring the award-winning Polish pianist Lucas Krupinski, This fiendishly difficult piece was executed faultlessly and led to such lengthy appreciation from the audience that he then played as an encore one of Chopin's famous Nocturnes.
After the interval, the highlight of the concert was the performance of Beethoven's 'Eroica' Symphony by the 75-piece RPO. This powerful composition was again brilliantly executed and brought to an end a most enjoyable concert - probably the best RSTC has ever attended at Cadogan Hall.
