Kiss Me Kate - the musical - at London's Barbican heatre

Two  coachloads of members ventured a little further than usual to the magnificent Barbican Theatre in the City of London. It was surprisingly easy to get to, despite some (misplaced) doubts about how close to the theatre the coaches were able to drop off and pick up.
Starring Broadway musical star Stephanie Block and our own Adrian Dunbar, of Line of Duty fame,  Kiss Me Kate is a play-within-a-play portraying the trials and tribulations of a theatre company putting on a performance of Shakespeare's 'Taming of the Shrew'. 
The fast-moving show contained many well-known songs - Wunderbar, Too Darn Hot, Brush up your Shakespeare and many others - as well as  several comic interludes. 
Stephanie Block was magnificent as Lilli/Catherine (Kate) and Adrian Dunbar (Fred Graham/Petruchio) surprised everyone with his confident baritone singing voice.
The huge Barbican stage contained a very effective revolving set and the whole show was backed by energetic singing and dancing from the ensemble.
Another thoroughly enjoyable trip to the theatre by RSTC members.
