John Rutter's Christmas Celebration at the Royal Albert Hall

Rutter 2024

John Rutter's annual Christmas Celebration at the Royal Albert Hall

Many of our members eagerly look forward to attending John Rutter's Christ Celebration concert at the Royal Albert Hall. To many, it signifies the start of the Christmas period. It is so popular with members that the 106 seats we reserved were sold out within a few hours, with many on the waiting list.
As always, Sir John Rutter - now in his 80th year - did not disappoint. Conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bach Choir, the Taplow Girls Choir - who were particularly good - and international tenor soloist Nicky Spence, the programme contained a wide variety of Christmas-themed pieces with the 5,000-strong audience invited to join in singing several well-loved carols as well as 'helping' the choirs in their rendering of the Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah.
As always, Rutter conducted his Christmas Quiz with the audience , which added to the general sense of fun.
Overall, an excellent event, much-enjoyed by all those who went along.
Finally, a John Rutter (very old) Christmas joke:
How does Good King Wenceslas like his pizza cooked?
Ans: Deep and Crisp and Even!!!!
