RSTC trip to performance of Messiah at Royal Albert Hall
Over 50 members travelled to London for the traditional performance of Handel’s Messiah by the Royal Choral Society and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert marks the Royal Choral Society’s 147th annual Good Friday Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall. The Good Friday tradition of Handel’s magisterial work started in 1876 and has only been prevented by the Blitz (1940/1) and Covid (2020/1). The performance was conducted by Richard Cooke, with four soloists and 150 singers making up the choir. During the performance, one of our RSTC members, Jean Claydon, sketched the audience in her immediate vicinity – which is shown below. Well done Jean!
